SaaS : a directory and exchange – a virtual marketplace. The B2B models were forerunners of a new software model where the software itself becomes the exchange product being “traded”.
Multi-tenancy– an application model where all the users and apps share a single common infrastructure and code base
Software becoming more declarative - using Meta-data driven application development that allows declarative “blue prints” with no code required
Web services APIs provide direct, low level access to all data stored in the exchange from virtually any programming language model and UI
Run multiple applications within a single Salesforce deployment, which share a common data model, security model and UI (A domain strategy.)
Directory: an “iTunes-like” Web site where visitors can share, review, demo and install applications
SaaS is based on the concepts of SOA. (Common model , common API, common protocols, business and application logic decoupled.)
Internet open standards: XML, SOAP, WS-I basic Profile
Content to Transactions – the attention economy
