Digital presence is key to developing reinforcement and feedback for growth outcomes. While investing in new TLDs is an additional cost, the benefits far outweight this right now for governments, industry, companies and people in seeking to grow and make use of the digital world.

Underpinning this is an understanding of how digital workspaces work, it’s the digitization of physical spaces and work that is changing how we interact in social spaces, building spaces, transport (in-car, trains, planes..) spaces, retail, health, city and so on spaces. The combination of new digital technologies is affecting how physical and online businesses monetize. For example LinkedIN, the premier online professional community are announcing their Q1 results tomorrow May 1 and while they have recently surpassed the 300 million members, it’s mostly ad-driven revenue and stock price is dropping. A main reason are their challenges to move to mobile services and convert passive users to active users. This is a challenge for big data, social and mobile strategy working together properly. Another example is the City Growth Commission in the UK and trying to grow jobs and revenue for the city of London and other cities using digital infrastructure. A challenge is understanding how these digitized spaces in these living and working area can generate value and monetize. ANother is EU growth using Digital technologies also highlight right now the challenges of creating employment workspaces and EU integration and regional diversity. A major focus is on effective digital platforms and creating communities for better working spaces and competitiveness. The key is that this is all HOT issues right now for governments, industry, companies and people in making using of the digital world.

This is just illustrative of the need to define how vertical and horizontal markets and value networks work in digital terms. Workspaces are a key way of “blocking” this into manageable concepts that business and IT people can start to understand what is happening and what they need to do to grow digital business, brand effectively and exploit digital technologies. Branding these spaces using TLDs is another tool for this.
